London’s two biggest festivals, Udderbelly and London Wonderground, have merged to create one big five-month long festival that will premiere at the end of April: introducing Underbelly Festival. We’re already marking it down in our diaries.
This festival will run through the entire summer, starting 28 April, and running through 30 September. Taking place on London’s South Bank, this festival unlike any other, will feature music, comedy, circus, cabaret, puppetry, magic, and children’s shows. We’re particularly excited that Underbelly will also feature London’s best street food and one of the largest outdoor bars in the city.
Hilton Hotels & Resorts is continuing their relationship with the Underbelly brand as headline sponsors of the festival, and headline shows such as acclaimed circus troupe Casus, Quebec circus company Flip FabriQue’s Edinburgh Fringe hit Catch Me (Attrape Moi) & UK premiere from “boylesque” heroes Briefs are already scheduled. Comedy highlights include James Acaster, Al Murray, Sara Pascoe and Stephen K. Amos with much more still to be announced.
“We’re incredibly excited about Underbelly Festival, which is the natural progression for our hugely popular Udderbelly and London Wonderground festivals,” says Underbelly Directors Ed Bartlam and Charlie Wood. “This year’s programme is one of our strongest yet on the Southbank and we’re delighted to continue our commitment to bring London’s largest programme of affordable live entertainment to the heart of the capital.”
