This morning we awoke to the Twitter gossip that Alexander Wang, of hot NYC urban label of the same name, might be in line to succeed Nicolas Ghesquiere as the next creative director at Balenciaga.
Whilst Twitter loves a fashion-storm, it was actually a Cathy Horyn-penned piece for the New York Times which sparked the rumour-mill. According to the feature, a Paris source insinuated that an announcement about Alexander Wang’s appointment could be made as early as next week, with discussions currently underway.
We’re loving the idea of Wang bringing his downtown,New York aesthetic over into Europe, and whilst we’d miss the designers synonymous line, imagine the wonders a Parisian move would do for his career!
