Let’s talk about James Wong’s credentials. First of all, he’s an Ethnobotanist. Ethnobotany is the study of the relationships between plants and people in case you were wondering (we certainly were!). He’s also a bestselling author and award-winning television presenter, it seems he’s got it all going on.
He trained to masters level at the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew (where else?!) and boasts a lifelong passion for plants. He grew up in Singapore and Malaysia where his enthusiasm for natural remedies was founded.
It would seem his new venture with botanical beauty brand Liz Earle is a match made in plant heaven. Of the Liz Earle brand James says ‘When I was at university, I remember being hugely impressed when I saw an advert for an in-house botanist at Liz Earle. There’s no other role like it in the beauty industry, which really proves their commitment to sourcing the highest quality botanicals. Fast forward, and now I’m the lucky botanist who’ll be out in the field, researching the latest science behind new botanicals, and getting to know the story of the people who grow our ingredients. For a plant geek like me, you could call it my dream job!’.
We love him already. If only for calling himself a ‘plant geek’. And we love the lengths that Liz Earle are going to strengthen their botanical knowledge and content.
With James’ input, we can look forward to innovative new ranges and exciting new ingredients from the much-loved skincare brand.
