Having struggled with eating disorders since she was 15, Lady Gaga has understandably been rather offended by the recent spate of media headlines targeting her supposed weight gain. Not one to keep quiet, the superstar hit back at critics by wearing a Commes des Garcons fat-suit style ensemble designed by Rei Kawakubo, that wouldn’t have looked out of place on the set of Teletubbies.
And today, to really drive the message home that she wasn’t going to let the nasty comments lie, Gaga posted candid shots of herself in nothing but her underwear on her Little Monsters site.
The fearless singer posted this pic of her baring all in a yellow underwear set.
Gaga then went on to reveal all to her fans, responding to the attacks on her curvier figure by saying, “‘My boyfriend prefers me curvier. When I eat I am healthy and not so worried about my looks, I’m happy. Happier than I’ve ever been.
‘I am not going to go on a psycho-spree because of scrutiny. This is who I am. And I am proud at any size’
In response to some rather unflattering pictures of herself, Gaga has admitted to gaining almost 25lbs, before taking her site and launching a new section, called Body Revolution, in the hope of promoting a healthier approach to body shape and size. The singer wrote,
‘Bulimia and anorexia since I was 15. But today I join the BODY REVOLUTION. To Inspire Bravery. And BREED some m$therf**king COMPASSION.’ She goes on to say, ‘my mother and I created the BORN THIS WAY FOUNDATION for one reason: “to inspire bravery. This profile is an extension of that dream. Be brave and celebrate with us your “perceived flaws,” as society tells us. May we make our flaws famous, and thus redefine the heinous.’
She later went on to write a personal and grateful thank you to her fans saying “My weight loss/gain since I was a child has tormented me. No amount of help has ever healed my pain about it. But YOU have.’
