When Leighton Denny came out with his perfume he applied himself as he did to his nail products with his whole soul plus his scientific head and his heart.
His award winning perfume was called Light and Dark because it’s about where extremes meet. Darkness and warmth, seduction and joy, just like his lip colours are both matt and gloss as if they were a nail colour his perfume too has this duality. He is of course a Gemini.
The Light and Dark perfume with its gardenia jasmine pepper and incense allegedly triggers the instincts of desire. And the smell itself stimulates confidence and seduction. It’s certainly a statement scent and now it comes in minis with three new fragrances.
The minis are purse size, the size of a lipstick, shimmering disco colours studded with distinction.
My favourite is called Lively. It’s a unisex one lemon and grapefruit entwined with nutmeg, ginger pepper and cardamom with base notes of sandalwood and patchouli, vetiver and ambers. Lots of contrasts making one delicious aroma. I love its tiny size and infinite power.
Leighton thinks you should use less perfume in the summer because heat activates odour. He advises never to keep fragrances in the sun, heat, light and humidity all play a part in breaking down your perfumes powers and perfume should be kept in a box out of the sun. If it gets too hot it will sweat and the scent will cloud away. He also likes to spray perfume on clothes. I have to say spritzing clothes really keeps scent around for a lot longer and makes the clothes feel fresh, feel like they’ve been laundered by the sun and petal power. The new minis come in Original, Lively, Desire which is a another unisex one – a celebration of dark woods and moss – and Delightful which is lotus flower, jasmines and pink violet, punctuated with creamy vanilla and coconut sorbet. Yes it does sound like a dessert and that one comes in pink packaging as it’s the most girly.
Light and Dark £43.50, minis £9.50
