Anyone who has ever painted their nails with a Leighton Denny polish can tell it comes from a man who has really, as he says himself, nailed it. Perfect colour, perfect glide and a little magic dust.
He is completely compelling when he is on QVC and apparently his Crystal Nail File is sold every 15 seconds somewhere in the world. The Crystal Nail File is a great file; it’s not too harsh and it’s precise. No wonder Leighton is described as Buff Daddy to the stars.
I have been waiting to read his autobiography How I Nailed It (£10.00) for a while. It’s a roller coaster read. It’s like its own mini-series.
It describes how the unlikely Leighton Denny, kicked out of school, a dyslexic truck driver from Bradford, became the world’s number one nail man.
Who doesn’t love a story of a multi-million pound empire that was inspired by a manicure? It’s all nail-biting (apologies!) stuff, and hilarious. Even Simon Cowell makes an appearance when he refers to Leighton as a ‘lesbian looking thing’ which is probably the worst insult imaginable for a gay guy.
His tale is written full of drive and enthusiasm, just like the man himself. Plus I love the title.
