As London Fashion Week came to a close last night; we are left with so much style and beauty inspiration to process. We’ve enjoyed every minute of it – seeing trends emerging, makeup looks we’ll all be recreating at home and basically a glimpse into the clothing we’ll all be after later on this year! One thing I particularly fell for was the reinvention of the floral – rather than printed, it has been transformed into a 3D masterpiece, stuck-on to the clothing, and complemented with butterflies and adornments.
Take a look at highlights from the last days of LFW below…
Antonio Berardi

Antonio Berardi believes that a woman’s clothing should reflect her femininity, propriety and sense of quality, and for his AW16 collection he played with racy detailing using lace, belts and corset-style shapes. The lineup bought dark hues including black, navy, with romantic tones of burgundy and red. Check out a beauty trend we saw emerging from this show here.
Sophia Webster

Sophia Webster’s shoes basically make your outfit – they take pride place as main feature; and with this collection Sophia didn’t disappoint as she displayed her Tim Burton-inspired collection. She went for a darker palette with floral, leather, holographic butterflies and her tongue-in-cheek slogans clutches.
“The collection is totally inspired by my favourite Tim Burton movie Beetlejuice, and the character Winona Ryder plays, Lydia Deetz,” she says. “She is the muse for the collection, that’s the character that models are embodying. Then we have the corpse bride, who at the end of the film disintegrates into butterflies.”

Erdem

Erdem always manages to make us fall in love; and this collection is no different. The magical collection featured vintage velvets, frilled bibs and glamorous floral and golden tassled dresses to add an air of elegance. The intricate floral designs look like they’re stuck onto the fabric, creating textures to die for.

Burberry

Burberry is known for their iconic trench – but this season is all about the military coat. Burberry went grunge with a retro aesthetic; from paisley shirts and kick flares, to snakeskin print and groovy graphic dresses. Chunky buckle boots strode down the runway adding to this sense of nostalgia that we loved.
Christopher Kane

Grandma-chic is a word we’re seeing a lot from the Christopher Kane show – referencing to his perspex head scarves that adorned the models as they walked down the catwalk. The designer called his collection “lost and found”, and dedicated it to the hoarders and compulsive collectors who stand a little outside society’s ‘norm’. Baggy off-the-shoulder orange jumpers with bright printed layering, large floral brooches and fur boots; added a whole new (and pretty cool) meaning to the term’ bag lady’. We enjoyed his eccentric collection.
Just-got-caught-in-the-rain hair was a key look; suitable for the London climate we all know and love… and a look we are all very familiar with ourselves too (we’ve all been there). Next time you get caught up in the rain just remember, you’ll look fashion-forward.
Peter Pilotto

Playful graphics and print took centre stage at Peter Pilotto with asymmetrical layering and colours. Flowing textures added extra femininity. The pieces were delicate, but sturdy, with metallic tones and intricate designs.
Amanda Wakeley

Amanda Wakeley made her models into warriors in her latest collection; with big fur draped over feminine silhouettes. “She is the contemporary warrior…a model of both courage and strength. She is fearless, dynamic and active…her look incorporates luxe sportswear elements whilst drawing on a Medieval Nordic influence”. The icy cool satin sits underneath heavy thick fur coats to portray a heroic and strong woman.
