The trend for natural products continues at a fast and furious pace and in response L’Oreal Professional have launched their first ever 100% Herbal Hair Colour. The new Botanéa range has something for everyone as it works with each individual’s natural base so results are rich, natural and leave your hair gloriously shiny and healthy-looking from light blonde through to deep brunette.
“We are incredibly excited about the launch of our first ever 100% herbal hair colour – a true game-changer for the salon market where naturalness meets professional results. We have all become very prescriptive with our lifestyle choices, and it is our job at L’Oréal Professionnel to respond to consumer demand and meet these specific needs as they evolve.” Monica Teodoro, General Manager L’Oréal Professionnel UK & Ireland
How does it work?
The colouring process is very bespoke as the colourist will be using a combination of three herbal powders to completely customise the colour to your hair. The powders are mixed with water heated to a precise temperature – when heated to either 50 or 100 degrees centigrade, depending on the colour recipe, the water releases the colour from the powder to gently yet permanently dye hair. Hair is not damaged and there are no harsh chemicals either, it can even work with those who have over 30% white hair as the Colourist will expertly layer the haircolour by applying it twice in succession to blend away the grey.
All Natural Ingredients
All the colours have three main herbal ingredients, Pure Henna, Indigo and Cassia which are sustainably sourced from India. The henna is derived from the leaves of the Lawsonia Inermis which gives luscious warm copper pigments, ideal for blondes with dark and copper bases.
Next comes Indigo, a powerful natural dye derived from the indigo plant, Indigofera Tinctoria from Southern India. This contains blue to purple pigments ideal for brown and dark bases alongside neutral and cooler shades.
The third key ingredient, Cassia, is also known as “neutral henna”, and has no colouring properties. Derived from Senna Alexandrina, the Angustifolia variety of cassia was selected by L’Oréal Research to be used by colourists as an adjuster and luminizer adding to and adjusting the colour intensity and radiance.
Coconut Oil is also used as a texturizing agent, which helps to make the formula quicker to prepare and easier to apply and rinse.
Botanéa products are a new and exciting addition to the L’Oreal Professional range and provide the perfect solution for those looking for all-natural and very kind hair products when they visit their hairdresser.
To complement the dyes L’Oreal Professional have also brought out a range of products that are between 80 and 99 percent natural. The range, Source Essentielle, will ensure that your salon colour lasts while adding extra shine and life.
