Under the watchful eye of creative director Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton has previously dabbled in collaborations. Previously, handpicked artists include Stephen Sprouse, Takashi Murakami and Richard Prince, but it is only this year’s capsule collection with Japanese avant-garde artist Yayoi Kusama that appears to have warranted a far greater response. In honour of the collaboration, seven pop up shops will roll out across the globe, from Asia to Europe.
The first of the pop up shops will be housed inside the Louis Vuitton boutique in New York on July 10th, before the signature Kusama spot motifs will make their way across Asia, to Hong Kong, Singapore and two branches in Tokyo. The dotty Kusama boutiques will then make their way over to Europe with concept stores opening in Paris’ famous Printemps department store and finally ending up in London’s Selfridges.
Louis Vuitton’s new collection by Kusama will be available exclusively at Selfridges for six weeks from August 24.
