This January Sofitel London St James launched a brand new menu at The Balcon entitled the ‘De-Light Menu’. It is made up of a series of low-calorie gourmet menus that are all cooked and prepared with health, well-being and of course taste as priorities.
By avoiding ingredients that are high in fat, and instead focusing on the use of spices, stronger natural flavours and cooking methods such as roasting, steaming and poaching instead of frying, the Sofitel London St James have been able to produce three course meal menus ranging from 500 to 700 calories.

Examples of the ‘de-lights’ on offer include a baked tomato filled with tuna mousse on cucumber tartar (65 calories), a seared Cornish sea bass fillet, macedoine of turnips and carrots and red beetroot caramel sauce (225 calories), poached chicken supreme, blanquette sauce and steamed vegetable casserole (250 calories). Those with a sweet tooth won’t be disappointed either. An example of the desserts on the menu is the molten mango cake with a light coconut ice cream (130 calories).
