I think pigmentation and patches of discolouration on the skin are more ageing than most wrinkles, they are pretty impossibe to get rid of with any creams. The only way to really get rid of them is with a treatment at the dermatologist. Here is a review with someone who had a lot of sun damage, see what he thought of his treatment and results.

Lumecca™ Intended Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy with Dr David Jack. During this treatment Dr Jack reduces and removes visible veins and pigmentation as well as smooth the texture of the skin, restoring a clear complexion and rejuvenating skin tone
WHAT IS LUMECCA™ INTENDED PULSED LIGHT THERAPY?The Lumecca™ IPL therapy treatment reduces and removes specific pigments in the skin, from redness and spider veins to discoloured patches.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
It is particularly successful in removing age spots (red/brown pigmentation), sun damage, vascular lesions (spider veins, port wine stains, rosacea, freckles, acne scarring and melasma. Lumecca™ can be used on any part of the body.
HOW DOES LUMECCA™ WORK?
The Lumecca™ IPL laser uses photo-thermolysis through the delivery of specific wavelengths of light which interact with red and brown pigments in the skin. These pigments absorb the light and are destroyed, often in one session. Lumecca has a high specificity and selectivity for pigmentation and redness created by sun damage and is one of the most powerful treatments for this purpose.
Richard’s review of the treatment:
I have a high pain threshold so the idea of having a rubber band snapped in my face didn’t really phase me. What I didn’t expect was for that rubber band to be on fire. This was not the pain of other lasers or the electric shock of Face Gym. This was like being zapped with a light sabre. The flashes of red light, still visible through eyes clenched shut and covered by protective goggles made it even more scary. I have to say that David really put me at ease. Yes it hurt but he was very encouraging and he kept me calm.
Immediately afterwards I felt glowing in a sun burn kinda way and for the next hour I did look like I’d been skiing with no protection. But once my skin had calmed down I looked back to my normal self and the small veins on my nose had completely disappeared. RESULT!
About four hours later, as promised by Dr Jack, I started to notice freckling on my cheeks and forehead where I would normally get freckles in the summer. Eight hours after my treatment these freckles were very dark brown. Almost black like coffee grounds. My partner was pretty shocked by it and his shock made me more shocked. I wasn’t worried. The process had been explained to me and David had already told me to contact him if I was concerned but my face looked like a coffee pod had exploded over it.
The next morning my skin looked the same. It was the same texture. These weren’t raised bumps or moles. Just black dots. Tinted moisturiser was not gonna cover this.
48 hours later I still couldn’t see a change. Had I made a mistake?
On day three, the smaller freckles started to disappear as I washed my face. Nothing abrasive, just a sensitive skin wash. There was no pain on my face but I wasn’t about to use an exfoliant!
By day four the freckles started to look less like freckles and more like the crumbs when you scrape the black off burnt toast. As I washed my face the crumbs started to disappear. Not all at once. But slowly and on day five I finally saw what I had hoped for. Brand new, brighter, cleaner looking skin. The shock to my face had also created more collagen under my eyes so my fine lines seemed reduced and less noticeable.
My skin is much more even in tone and looks, well, just newer. I had A LOT of sun damage so I think that is why my face went so black. But skin is an amazing regenerating organ. Dr Jack’s previous experience working with burns victims has obviously influenced him and his skill in this area is clear.
Depending on your age and the signs of age and sun damage on your face David recommends up to three treatments but as soon he had finished my treatment he thought I would be fine with just one. And he was right. The skin on my forehead looks completely different even four weeks on and friends have noticed how clear my complexion is.
