I don’t think any of us can recall a time when the world of fashion and entertainment hasn’t been ever so slightly Marilyn Monroe obsessed. Before her death in 1962 she was an icon, and she continues to be.
Next month a selection of Marilyn’s love letters and other pictures and momentos are set to be auctioned off to the highest bidder at the renowned Beverley Hills auction house Julien’s Auctions.
The items include correspondence between the actress and lovers and friends including Cary Grant, Joe DiMaggio, Clark Gable, Jane Russell and Arthur Miller.
The items have been held until now by a close friend of Lee Strasberg who coached Monroe through her acting lessons, to whom they were left in her will. They will go on display at the Beverley Hills gallery for a mere four days before the auction on 5th December.
Darren Julien (of Julien’s Auctions) has predicted that the pieces could sell for over $1 million.
