Earlier this year, London-based designer Mary Katrantzou, announced her collaboration with denim brand Current Elliott to the Paris press. Until now, the collaboration has been kept very much under wraps, with Katrantzou telling Vogue UK, “In our last show, a critic mentioned denim and what it might look like with our prints and we thought that it could be a great challenge to work with denim for the first time. I really like what Current Elliott does, so I approached Serge [Azria, the label’s creative director], with an idea for a collaboration.”
And now the range has been unveiled. “This season season, we looked at postage stamps and obsolete bank notes as a means of cultural exchange. For Current Elliott, we looked at stamped visas and passports. For the first time we also worked with screen print to create tone on tone denim.”
The collaboration comprises a range of jackets, dresses, skirts, tops and jeans all featuring the Greek designer’s signature trompe l’oeil prints and bold patterned styling.
