The Men’s Spring 2013 Ready-to-Wear Collections were showcased this past week at Paris Fashion Week.
Every major designer from Balenciaga to Thom Browne presented their unique ready to wear designs on the runway and we were pretty impressed with the offerings – so much so that we (almost) can’t wait until next year for our men to deck themselves out in high-fashion designer garb.
With runway coverage straight from the catwalk, here are some of our favorite pieces and looks from the shows;
Inspired by the baroque period of culture of Brazil’s Japanese community, Philip Lim featured zippered terry sweaters, biker jackets, and cut off sweatpants. His collection was clean, laid back and looked super comfortable. We loved the summery but smart-edged Hermes collection, filled with sophisticated lightweight suits and navy tuxedos. Black leather dominated the Lanvin runway and we loved the glimmering silver suits.
Jean Paul Gaultier stunned again with his sailboat-inspired nautical collection. Featuring crisp cotton shirts and variations on button-front sailor pants – the look was clean, fresh and sporty. We also liked the navy wool blazers for those cool fall days. Givenchy’s collection made religious iconography a new trend and was full of religious face print icons on tops and sweaters. Balenciaga’s collection was more laid back than some of the others with loose fitting silhouettes and a blend of blacks, grays and deep reds.
At the heart of Kenzo’s collection were an array of yellows, blacks and khaki hued Bermuda shorts and tops and was inspired by the jungles of Southeast Asia. We think these colors are perfect for the fall season. Thom Browne’s collection filled with nautical inspired stripes, plaid, and madras, was the epitome of east coast preppy couture. The Louis Vuitton collection also had a nautical seafaring concept and was filled with double breasted navy coats and suits – perfect for foul-weather and castaways!
