Picturehouse Cinemas has unveiled a new addition to their group of cinemas – Picturehouse Central, a seven-screen cinema on Shaftesbury Avenue near Piccadilly Circus in the heart of central London.
Rejuvenating from the remains of the well-known Trocadero Centre – but we probably won’t miss the arcades and endless escalators that were once there. The Picturehouse Cinema Central has bought back style and substance to the 1896 building, and reimbursing the Victorian and Edwardian glamour.
Inside, you will be greeted by a grand staircase, with a fine cafe bar and warming decor with illustrations by artist Patrick Vale. He spoke about his work being part of this grand opening;
“It depicts the history of cinema, but through the mechanics behind film instead of just the people. It starts with the Big Bang because without light you wouldn’t have cinema, then it goes through different projectors and technological innovations, leaving you at the end with the question: what’s next?”
Upstairs, after you’ve passed underneath the mesmerizing hanging lightbulbs, there is another generous lounge bar to get comfy in.
Krista has expressed how lovely this venue is – even worth visiting for a night out even if you aren’t booked in for a movie! I also hear the chairs are so comfy, the material good enough for a dressing gown. Gosh.
Experience it for yourself, you wont regret it.
