Boot fairs are great for finding those one-off gems. I was excited when I heard about this art fair taking place this Sunday 14th June – Vauxhall is holding The UK’s Most Anarchic Art Fair, and its back this year with a Bite!
The Vauxhall Art Car Boot Fair is the day the art-world lets its hair down and it’ll be parking up in Brick Lane Yard on Sunday 14th June with a genuinely amazing line-up of established and up-and-coming artists who will be personally pitching up to sell their original and limited edition works of art out of the back of new and vintage Vauxhall cars. These artists include Tracey Emin, Sir Peter Blake, Polly Morgan, Matt Collishaw and plenty, plenty more! They will be selling their work at authentically bargain prices.
The website has tons of information to have a gander at, and get your hands on some affordable one-of-a-kind art pieces – “…with over 80 artists, amazing new art commissions on car bonnets – astonishing art bargains just for the day and some amazing performances! Anyone with a few quid in their pocket can become a collector for the afternoon, and there’s so much to do and see besides! The wonderful spirit of the Art Car Boot Fair gets a fresh injection of talent every year and all artists are hand picked to let their hair down and flog their fabulous art from their car boots!”
And this year comes back with a little twist, featuring a canine theme, “After a dozen wildly successful years we’re finally going to the dogs….inviting our artists to present a myriad of canine influenced artworks amidst the art fair. All good natured dogs are welcome on leads with responsible owners and will have a one-off chance to be photographed with their owners in a car boot by artist Maria Teresa Gavazzi in a car boot and a chance to win the Best in Boot prize! Plus! Black dogs, Nodding Dogs, Sleeping Dogs, Toy Dogs, Felt Dogs, Cool dogs, Hotdogs and many more besides.”
