My London Walk: Win A Lomo Camera With Bupa

September 27, 2012

This September, Bupa has set a target to get at least 100,000 people walking to encourage them to build walking into their lives for the long-term. We were asked by Bupa to show our favourite London walk and give the route to the famous instagrammer, Jiri Siftar for him to capture images along the way.

You can also win a Lomo camera, details at the end of this post.

My walk is from Charlotte Street, where I live, up to Regent’s Park. It’s my favourite walk to do at the weekend, especially in the morning before too many people are paving the streets, it’s my green-fix and head space walk to clear my head after a busy week. This walk takes just 15 minutes, but I mostly continue along to Primrose Hill and for a bit of good thigh exercise. I go up to the top of the hill a few times, watched by the good-looking and rich dwellers of the area walking their Labradoodles.

For details of the walk you can see the route here, starting off at Charlotte Street enjoying the cafes and restaurants in Fitzrovia, named after the pub The Fitzroy Tavern and not Fitzroy Square as most people think. You will find yourself walking through Fitzroy Square on the way to the park, Guy Ritchie’s house is currently under construction and Fay Maschler, the famous food critic lives just on the corner. If you detour along Warren Street there are some more lovely cafes, Honey & Co  at 25a Warren Street, London W1T 5LZ is worth a visit, for the most delicious cakes.

The campaign is part of the Bupa Global Challenge, an annual worldwide Bupa initiative which aims to ‘get people moving’ and raise awareness of the benefits of increased walking for good health and to reduce the risk of developing long term diseases. It also supports Bupa’s ‘Well World’ commitment, helping to enable 60 million people to make positive changes to be healthier and happier by 2015 and to reduce the organisation’s carbon footprint by 20 percent.
