Anohni has released a heartbreaking visual for her newest single, “Drone Bomb Me” which is the second single from the British singer’s coming album, Hopelessness. To get her powerful message across in the song, the music video features Naomi Campbell, and is art-directed by Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy.
With tears streaming down her face, Naomi appears to recite the lyrics as she stares down the camera. The model was chosen as it was felt she was the perfect embodiment of the ideal of beauty Anohni wanted to capture, Tisci describes: “…the result was this beautiful under the ground trip that was the most emotional thing to shoot, because it was so deep and powerful, as is the friendship that ties me to Naomi and Anohni.”
The song is “an indictment of America and other countries’ drone campaign in Afghanistan and Pakistan,” which Anohni describes. “It’s a love song from the perspective of a girl from Afghanistan whose family has been killed by a drone bomb, she looks up to the sky and just wants to be killed by a drone bomb too.”
