It is only recently that I have become a fan of the nude lipstick. I used to think that nude lipstick was rather pointless, an unnatural version of a natural look. I have always been a more is more person, not that I want to look like a clown but natural was never me… until I discovered the NARS almost nude colours – so distinctive, so dramatic.
I didn’t think it was possible to be nude lipped and dramatic, but these lipsticks are so creamy and so deep in texture and shade even a nude is a full coverage nude.
I was actually seduced by the girl at the counter at Liberty’s who had a very dramatic pale nude lip. I wanted to try it – never was there a case more certain that a beautiful color is not beautiful on everyone. On her it looked a golden creme, on me it looked a sickly pale orange and it made my face look super pink. But by this time I was obsessed with dramatic nude and I tried one called Barbara. I wished it had been called Barbra, as in the Streisand spelling, but it may have been inspired by her fleshy pout in her Funny Girl period.
It was instantly perfect, a dusky pink nude but a powerful one. Instantly it complimented my skin tone and I love the creamy velvety texture and the super rich ingredients don’t make the lips dry out.
