As with all great artists, the world stood still when we discovered the tragic news of Whitney Houston’s death back in 2012. But, being one of the greatest, everyone wants to know what went on behind the scenes of her life and now we can find out.
Award-winning director, Nick Broomfield (Biggie and Tupac, Kurt & Courtney), is bringing us Whitney ‘Can I Be Me’ – a documentary about one of the greatest performers of the past century, Whitney Houston.
To compile the documentary, Nick has used previously unseen footage cut with exclusive live recordings. It shares an insight into her life and career as early as her life in New Jersey, where she sang in the church choir, all the way to signing with her recording label and then onto her spectacular rise to to fame. The touching story will also take us through her marriage to Bobby Brown, her personal struggles and her return to the stage and screen.
The film has initially premiered this week at the Tribeca Film festival on 26th April and it will open across cinemas in the UK and Ireland on 16th June 2017.
