Like the rest of the world, I have an absolute obsession with Carpool Karaoke.
What began as a segment on James Corden’s The Late Late Show, quickly became a global phenomenon, with hundreds of millions of viewers tuning in to watch the car rides of their dreams. It basically featured Corden driving around Los Angeles with various musicians and actors coming along for the ride. Just picture this: you’re cruising to work, listening to your favorite Spotify playlist, belting out every word like you always do. Oh yeah, and Adele is in the passenger seat. Carpool goals AF.
Carpool Karaoke came to be so entertaining that celebrities were literally asking to be featured on it. So, it came as no surprise when Apple Music decided to turn it into a regular thing, with its very own standalone series. Sixteen celebrity pairings will be featured in the first season, exclusively on the Apple app. The show is meant to go beyond the car, with segments in the teaser showing things like John Legend in a laundromat with a gospel choir, and Chelsea Handler and Blake Shelton pounding shots.
Rather than have Corden in the driver’s seat, the new show is meant to match celebs together. But that’s not the last we’ve seen of the hilarious TV host behind the wheel. He makes an appearance in one episode with Will Smith, and will still continue the sketch on his own talk show.
The newest trailer shows sneak peeks of pairs like Billy Eichner and Metallica, John Cena and Shaq, Trevor Noah and Shakira, and Miley Cyrus’ whole family. Watch the entire star-studded clip below.
Starting 8th August, a new episode of Carpool Karaoke will be streamed each week on Apple Music. For now, catch up on all of James Corden’s hilarious rides on his YouTube channel here.
