Labor Day centers on 13-year-old Henry Wheeler (Gatlin Griffith), who is confronting a life of caring for his troubled reclusive mother Adele (Kate Winslet) when he meets Frank Chambers (Josh Brolin) whilst shopping with Adele. Frank is injured and, it appears, very much in need of a place to stay, or, as it turns out, to hide. News stories reveal him to be a man who has recently escaped from prison. During the course of the Labor Day weekend Frank and Adele grow closer whilst facing the possibility of him being captured. The weekend will change each character for the rest of their lives.
