In Depression-era North Carolina, George Pemberton (Bradley Cooper) struggles to maintain the future of his timber empire. His life becomes more complicated when he learns his wife, Serena (Jennifer Lawrence), cannot bear children.
Unsurprisingly given the lead actors, the director is Susanne Bier who also directed the A list pair in Silver Linings Playbook. The director was originally going to be Darren Aronofsky who was due to cast Angelina Jolie in Lawrence’s role.
