We Are Your Friends follows a close-knit group of four friends in LA, including Zac Efron’s character Cole, an aspiring young DJ trying to make it on the electronic music scene.
From the much-anticipated directional debut from Catfish‘s Max Joseph, We Are Your Friends is a coming of age drama about what it takes to pursue your dreams.
Set in the location of Hollywood nightlife heavily in the electro-music scene, the aspiring 23 year-old DJ, Cole (Efron) spends his nights working on the ultimate track to set the world afire. He meets charismatic but older and quite run-down DJ, James, who takes him under his wing. Things all change when Cole starts falling for James’ much younger girlfriend, Sophie. With their forbidden relationship deepening and his friendships dissolving, he must choose between love, loyalty, and the future he knows he’s destined for.
