Martin Parr is one of our most well-known photographers and since the 1980’s he has been photographing people; on beaches, at sporting events, enjoying their hobbies and socializing.

Crossing all classes and races, Martin Parr captures our eccentricities and puts them into sharp focus. Only Human is his latest large exhibition being held at The National Portrait Gallery. It includes ‘Britain at a Time of Brexit’ his unique recording of the spirit of modern Britain immediately before and after the Brexit referendum of 2016. There is a particular focus to those areas where Leave voters are of the highest concentration – Lincolnshire features heavily – and this all sits alongside other images taken in some of the bastions of the British Establishment including Oxford, Cambridge, Harrow and the City of London.
He records how our clothes, the things we buy, our rituals and traditions, connect us and highlight what makes us all truly British. There is great affection in his work alongside lots of humour and wit. All British life both here and abroad, is here. Only Human: Martin Parr is on from March 7 – May 27 2019 at The National Portrait Gallery, London, tickets £18/£16.50 concessions.
