One of the most exciting things about Oscar week is its wonderful history that is so easily revisited. I started the week off at Bulgari’s party and small exhibition of Elizabeth Taylor’s jewels.

They were some of the first jewels that Richard Burton ever bought her and I learnt that Richard Burton said: ‘The only word Elizabeth knows in Italian is Bulgari. I introduced her to beer and she introduced me to Bulgari.’
At the party I met with the multi-talented British stylist David Thomas who is just unleashing his men’s jewellery collection – exquisite black gold button cufflinks and gold and diamond safety pin tiepin. Perfectly edgy.
Russell Brand wore the safety pin to the Vanity Fair party and Baz Bamigboye wore the cufflinks to the Oscars and Vanity Fair party.
Earlier that week I’d visited a Fred Leighton exhibition at a party for Love Gold, featuring classic masterpieces from the mid 20th century that have been worn by many Oscar winning ladies including Maggie Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon.
I wish it was Oscar week every week of the year.
