PFW AW16 UPDATE

March 4, 2016

By Hannah Powling

We’re almost halfway through Paris Fashion Week and the shows are in full swing. They truly don’t disappoint, and yesterday had some of the biggest names in fashion showcasing their AW16 collections in France. From turquoise lips to tassel overload, here are our highlights so far:

 Paco Rabanne

Makeup by Pat McGrath
Paco Rabanne’s models had slicked roots, clean skin and bold coloured lips. Loving the mint colour here, makeup by Pat McGrath.

Beige, camels, whites and brown were put together with greys, hues of violet, silver and white created a monochrome delight. Textures were explored from fur, to sheer.

Balmain

The big Balmain hair swap: the blondes wore brunette wigs, and the brunettes wore blonde wigs. Kendall Jenner & Gigi Hadid swapped hair colours, with Lindsey Wixson wearing a brunette wig.

As ever, Olivier Rousteing secured a supermodel line up for his Balmain Army, including Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Rosie Huntington Whiteley, Karlie Kloss and Jourdan Dunn..

Catwalk and detailing from the garments. The tassels were creating gorgeous movement as the models showcased the Balmain Aw16 collection; in sure signature style, the designer has completely embellished the clothes with intricate detailing and layering.

The colour palette was dusky pinks with pale blues, similar to Pantone’s Colour of the Year. Paired with black and obviously, gold.

Rick Owens

s
Okay, so let’s talk about the Rick Owens models. They were seen with what looks like matted hair nests domed over their heads to form a helmet, concealing their faces. Owens’ designs incorporated layers upon layers of draped material, with unusual textures. Is it time for us to start backcombing?
s
Rick Owens played with a monochrome colour palette, and extreme draping. The models’ candy floss-style head pieces were certainly an eye-catcher.

Lanvin

a
Lanvin introduced their ‘glamorous, romantic, bold and alluring’ woman; with gold and silver hues creating a euphoric colour palette. Reflective textures mixed with lace bodies and draped jackets oozed royalty.
a
Romantic, pretty tones on lace; while models were fully embellished with jewellery and accessories, with waved hair.
