Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week came to a close last night, with the biggest names in fashion showcasing their Fall Haute Couture collections in the French capital. As the week came to a close last night, here are our highlights from the last day of designers to take to the catwalk:
Maison Margiela
John Galliano has been creative director for Maison Margiela since 2014 and is starting to really put his mark on the label. Yesterday’s eccentric collection hinted at a personal interpretation of the fashion house’s espirit, with references to Galliano’s origins as an 80’s club kid in London. A nod to napoleon influences brings in bicorn hats and long trench coats with thigh high wellies style boots.
The makeup look was executed by Pat McGrath and oozed an era of punky neons and glitter – with an experimental construction of block colours, varying textures and bold topsy-turvy-like placements.
Elie Saab
Welcome to the wonderful fairytale world of Elie Saab – with matching mother and daughter gowns that made us ‘aww’ at the kiddie couture range.
Art deco style geometry played a big part, tracing across tulle and velvet – with 3D floral embroidery fluttering its way across the gowns. New York was noted as the main inspiration behind the collection, which Elie Saab seems to view as a city of architecture and birds – which were the two main motifs for embellishments.
Zuhair Murad
Zuhair Murad’s bohemian rhapsody collection dedicated to the 70’s featured embellishments upon embellishments, with 3D florals and lace for an ultra-feminine feel.
