On Sunday night, Paris Spring Couture SS16 Fashion Week kicked off with Donatella Versace‘s sporty couture range. With back to back shows from now till the 28th January – there are some designers we are thoroughly looking forward to seeing on the catwalk this week.
Versace’s collection was named “Athetic Couture” and featured dresses with in-sync lines which trace the models’ curves. Fixing the pieces together were harness straps and ropes, think 80’s inspired power suits with plunging necklines. We would use ‘sportswear’ perhaps a little more loosely on this collection – but we can totally see where the hints of inspiration come from.
Before the show the designer said; “I was thinking about women at their most focused and dynamic…women who push themselves.”
Gigi Hadid turned heads on the catwalk with her plunging black cut-out number, hugging her curves perfectly.
The Paris couture shows may essentially be about the fashion, but the hair and makeup is just as important. To us anyway. To kick off Atelier Versace, here are some close ups from the backstage hair and makeup from Vogue, and we’re spotting intense smokey eyes and dreamy, glowy skin.
