Pharrell and Erin Wasson are the latest hosts to sign up to Rihanna’s fashion show, ‘Styled to Rock.’
Making its UK debut with Girls Aloud member Nicola Roberts and fashion designer Henry Holland as the show’s hosts, the show has turned to the more-than-qualified duo of Pharrell Williams and Erin Wasson for the US debut.
Pharrell, best know for his musical career, which seems to have taken a step back into the limelight this summer with his two major hits – Daft Punk’s ‘Get Lucky’ and Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines.’ However, in case you didn’t know, Pharrell also has a notable background in fashion having founded the clothing line Billionaire Boys Club alongside Nigo, the creator of the BAPE clothing line and he was also voted by Esquire back in 2005 as the Best Dressed Man in the World.
Erin Wasson has more than just modelling roots in the fashion industry, as the ex-Victoria’s Secret angel is also the founder of her own jewellery line, Low Luv, which launched in 2010, and has collaborated with Zadig & Voltaire to design a collection for the brand.
‘Styled to Rock’ will air in the US later this year with contestants competing to dress Rihanna at a high-profile event.
The Barbados-born singer serves as the executive producer for the show and has made several appearances on the UK series. Due to, surprising, failed ratings however a second season has not been pushed in the UK, however a revamped version was quickly snatched up by US television networks, and with a change in mentors, the show is hoping to have more success stateside.
We can only wait and see if the Rihanna ‘Styled to Rock’ is a case of substance over style.
