We’ve known that Olivia Colman would be replacing Claire Foy as the Queen in season 3 of The Crown on Netflix for several weeks now, and now we finally know who will be playing Prince Philip.
Tobias Menzies will be taking over the role from Matt Smith when the third season airs (hopefully!) at the end of this year. Menzies is known for his roles in shows such as Rome, Game of Thrones, and Outlander.
Season 2 wrapped up with Prince Edward’s birth in 1964, so we should be seeing more of the children as they grow up throughout the show. We are supposedly going to meet Camilla Parker Bowles during the third season. There is no confirmation as to who will be playing the Prince or Duchess in this season. The story will also follow Princess Margaret’s (played by Helena Bonham Carter) bitter divorce from Lord Snowden.
There’s still lots of details that we don’t know, but needless to say, we can’t wait for the next season to be released!
