Talented, passionate, and only 19 years old, Alessia Cara is one of the newest up-and-coming singers to pay attention to. She describes herself as a “fluke” in the entertainment industry, yet many disagree. Her influence amongst youth has amassed in thousands of followers on social media, and her song “Here” has resonated with so many young women and since been dubbed as the “introvert’s anthem.”
While she may be new to the scene, many fans are predicting a lengthy career for Alessia. Unfamiliar with who she is? Here are some quick facts to bring you up to speed…
– She wrote her first single “Here” by herself, and within the first 24 hours it had over 50,000 plays. The song describes a girl at a party who is desperate to leave as soon as possible, which unbeknownst to Cara would resonate with introverts everywhere.
– Ontario, Canada is the singer’s true home, although her family is from Italy and she can speak Italian fluently.
– Her album was released in the UK this March, and so far has peaked at number 14.
