PUT PANTONE INTO YOUR WARDROBE

January 20, 2016

By Alyssa Boddicker

The new year has arrived and with that Pantone, the most prominent color specialist in the world, have released their picks for Color Of The Year that are set to predict the colors of fashion and beauty for 2016. This year was a first for Pantone as they released not one but two colors of the year, Rose Quartz and Serenity. Both of these beautiful pastel colors are not your average baby blue and pink. The slight muted tints to both of these colors add an adult tone so it doesn’t look like you’re celebrating a baby shower as you walk down the street. Although it doesn’t seem like it with the current weather, spring is coming and with that – the spring trends. That is why we pulled together a couple of ways to incorporate Pantone’s Colors Of The Year into your spring wardrobe….

Accessories

Kurt Gieger Tote & Michael Kors Cross-body

The easiest way to change up a wardrobe or add a pop of color to an outfit is to throw on an accessory. The first handbag, a larger tote by Kurt Geiger (£240) is a perfect day trip or work bag large enough to carry around necessities as well as an small shopping you may do throughout the day. Secondly, a small cross-body by Michael Kors (£155) is ideal to carry essentials across the city.

Jackets

Staying warm during spring time is always a struggle. The haphazard temperature changes leave you often wondering what type of outdoor clothing is appropriate. Don’t worry because these two options will not just leave you covered up for multiple weather situations but also have you in 2016’s latest color trends. For the colder days, a single-breasted wool blend jacket from Whistles (£325) is going to keep you warm and stylish on your days out. For when it gets a little warmer, the Lavish Alice blazer (£54) highlights the cape trend as well as the Pantone color Serenity in a sleek and modern blazer cut.

Dresses

The easy, breezy time of wearing dresses in the spring is what we have waited patiently all winter for. It’s finally time to unbundle and emerge from the dark and dreary colors of winter to celebrate the brightness of spring through what else, clothes. For a more trendy outing, this slit dress from Lorelei (£198) will brighten up a room. Looking for a reserved dress to easily wear with tights? This Mui Mui silk crepe dress (£304.50) is perfect for you. If you want one sleek A-line look with a little bit of warmth the Orion wool crepe dress (£176) is another great layering piece that is an easy transition from winter to spring. Last is a trendy little number from Reiss (£135) with an interesting twist. This jumpsuit not only has the lovely billowing v-neck top, but the top layer is also removable to transform the look into a form-fitting camisole strapped jumpsuit with a defined waist.

From accessories, to jackets, to dresses and more, it’s quite easy to incorporate Pantone’s Colors Of The Year for 2016 into your wardrobe. So do away with the dark and heavy jumpers of winter and embrace all that is Rose Quartz and Serenity, your closet will be glad you did.
