There are a lot of things I don’t miss about being a kid: school dinners, going to bed in daylight, that evil boy three doors down etc. But there are many more that I do, and one of them is riding my scooter.
Adults can cycle, or skate without eyebrows being raised. Now it’s time for the adult scooter. Cool young chaps have had them for a while, but Micro Scooters are giving women the opportunity to put their best scooting foot forward and remember just how good it felt.
I’d been green with envy watching my nieces on their scooters for a while, so when I was offered a scooter to test, I didn’t hesitate.
Actually, there are practical reasons for having a scooter. If you commute via bus or train and have to walk part of the way, a scooter is much cheaper to buy, easier to fold and lighter to carry than a folding bike. And you don’t have to wear all the lycra. Or if you take the kids to school on their scooters, you can catch up with them. Either way you could have another 10 minutes in bed.

My niece Rosie quickly declared that my scooter was “Awesome”. Her scooter has three wheels; this bad boy has just two, and it’s really fast and smooth on a flat surface. There’s a brake on the back wheel, but rather than perform a ballet pose to use it, I found putting my foot on the ground did the job.
Naturally things get challenging when there’s a hill, and my knees didn’t like scooting over rough concrete or bumpy pavements.

I’m not convinced scooters for adults are cool, but they’re definitely fun.
