I’m a big fan of Canada, I’ve been to their famous film festival, TIFF many times and fell in love with the city so much I made my sister go with her family, there’s just so much to do there and I love the Canadians, they are a very friendly bunch. So finding out that WestJet have just announced their new low fares I’m already looking at my calender for 2016.
You can also start planning your travels for next year because WestJet Airlines are offering affordable flights from London Gatwick to six cities in Canada. The Canadian Airline will be connecting friends and family on both sides of the Atlantic for as little as £163 one-way. You can explore Canada further with connecting flights to select Canadian airports for an additional £10.
Reasons to visit Canada:
1. The tastes of Toronto – a city which offers one of the worlds greatest diversity of cuisine, I’ve dined in some of the best places on my visits. Grab Indian food on Gerrard Street or a Chinese on Spadina Venue and an Italian on College Avenue.
Some of my favourite places to go in Toronto are in the area around West Queen West street in downtown Toronto, where you will find hip hotels, some of the best places to eat and shop with their indy boutiques and huge vintage scene. You must visit The Gladstone Hotel, built in 1889, The Gladstone Hotel is the oldest continuously operating hotel in Toronto, and is famous for being an artists and performers’ “last stop” after shows. Art and this hotel have become synonymous with one another, and every month The Gladstone plays host to over 100 arts-related events. Another cool feature of the hotel is the fact that all 37 guest rooms are individually designed by local Toronto artists, making your stay a unique and stylish experience.
The Drake Hotel also built in 1890 is also in downtown Toronto, the neighborhood was named the West Queen West Art and Design District in 2003, and is host to art exhibitions, festivals, dinners, and parties. This swanky hotel has a very good sushi bar, and has the Raw Bar as an indie music venue Raw Bar. Their General Store, spa, and year-round rooftop Sky Yard have become a one of the city’s coolest hangouts and a place to spot a celeb, especially during the film festival.

Canada is also great for families. my sister went with her kids and they didn’t want to come home. Toronto Zoo which, with 700 acres to explore, is pretty awesome and isin its early stages of a $50 million dollar ‘Wild for Life’ campaign that helps causes through research, education and conservation. A tourist trap, but also an incredible view is dinner at the 1,815 foot high CN Tower, you can also walk around the outside of the tower if you are brave enough.
The Ontario Science Centre was a family favourite too, with so many interactive play areas for kids, KidSpark. More for your list; a visit to the Shops at Don Mills, and if you are there in the summer you have to take a boat over for an amazing day at Centre Island to go to the beach and enjoying the theme park.
Take me back….
