I’ve just looked in the mirror at my skin a few hours after its Skin Laundry. treatment. It looks fresh, a little evened out, no red bits or brown spots. Nothing nasty looming.
Lines seem to have been ironed out. I can’t believe I’m not wearing any kind of make up. Not even a tinted moisturiser although my face looks tinted in an even and clean sort of way.
Skin Laundry is a new cult. Lasers on lunch break . No down time or even a red face. You go to Liberty’s for a 15 minute facial with a laser and later on you’ll be in a hydrating mask or an anti aging mask. And it’s pretty amazing results.
It started in California, went to New York where it was called the Dry Bar of facials. It’s blow and go but laser, it’s 15 minutes at most.
No wonder people are addicted to the holy trinity of tighter, brighter clearer skin. Effects are visible after the first treatment which is free, which is how they hook you in to a programme of regular slots. 3 times a month they recommend. After that it’s £50 plus around £8 for a take away mask – less if you buy in bulk.
Ideal when you have a fancy night out just. Instant feel good / look good. Long term benefits include reducing sun damage, redness and wrinkles.
When I arrived at the counter there was somebody booking months and months of appointments on the phone and there was a line of people. This is a hot seat.
You go upstairs past the shoe department into the treatment room. You fill in a form about what medications you are on in case any of them are skin thinning. Even homeopathic ones can have a skin thinning effect as can antibiotics. I have to admit there was a moment of panic. Do people mind the laser I asked? “Well you will feel it,” and feel it I did. I moaned and cried out but I am a wuss and pain is easily forgotten when you like the effects.
The first laser is prickly and it’s hot. They start at the forehead, go down to the cheeks, across the mouth and up the nose. They are packed out with appointments – people don’t think don’t think about pain, they think about gain.
After the prickly laser had done its first swoop of the face it does it again. The second time because I knew what to expect was altogether more palatable. Then comes a cooling gel, rather like the gel that they put on if you’re having a hospital appointment for a scan. Then you get another laser which is just a red flashing light and then you’re done. And then you choose a mask for later.
Only 15 minutes to get rid of scars, spots, lines, to be fully tightened. I am a big fan of fast action and in nearly no time at all !
It feels more surgical than frivolous. It’s only £50 and it’s a young company that knows what it’s doing in catering for its market – been around less than 4 years and now expanding all over the world. Obviously doing something right. Maybe even close to genius. Skin Laundry the name itself makes me think of ironed skin, clean but taut, laundered and that’s exactly how it is.
