We got some shocking relationship news yesterday when it was revealed that Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin have decided to separate after 10 years of marriage. The actress and the Coldplay frontman have two children together: Apple, 9, and Moses, 7. The split was announced in a blog post titled “Conscious Uncoupling” on Gwyneth’s blog, Goop.com:
Rather than speculate on what might or might not have been, we’ve decided to share some of the reasons why we love Gwyneth Paltrow… regardless of her relationship status! Take a look:
She’s always on the best-dressed list for events. You won’t catch her outfits being trashed by the Fashion Police, and she’s one of the hottest moms in Hollywood! No one can pull off a massive plunging neckline quite like Gwyneth.
She has a charitable side. Just a few days ago, Gwyneth posted this no-makeup selfie to raise awareness for the water-providing charity Drop4Drop on World Water Day. (Side note: we want to know her secret for such perfect skin!) She’s also a Save the Children artist ambassador and a board member of the Robin Hood Foundation in New York.
She loves to sing, and we love watching her in singing roles. She did a stint on the musical television show Glee as substitute teacher Holly Holiday and crooned her way onto the music charts with covers of “Forget You” by Cee-Lo Green, a “Singing in the Rain/Umbrella” mashup, “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac and “Turning Tables” by Adele, among others! Gwyneth even won an Emmy award for her work on Glee. She starred as a troubled country singer in 2010’s Country Strong, and sang with Huey Lewis in the 2000 film Duets.
She loves to promote a healthy lifestyle through her blog and cooking. Gwyneth has released two cookbooks, My Father’s Daughter: Delicious, Easy Recipes Celebrating Family and Togetherness and It’s All Good: Delicious Easy Recipes That Will Make You Look Good and Feel Great. You’ve probably pinned a few of her recipes since they’re always floating around Pinterest!
She’s not afraid to cry. Who can forget Gwyneth’s tearful acceptance of her Best Actress Oscar for 1998’s Shakespeare in Love? And she’s incredibly talented, with countless films under her belt and several awards to boot. If we were so lucky, we’d probably cry, too!
She’s a blogger! She created her own lifestyle blog, called Goop (the name is derived from her initials: GP), back in 2008. While it’s been criticized by some as being too oriented toward the luxurious celebrity lifestyle, it’s certainly a fun website to peruse and offers a lot of great ideas from Gwyneth herself.
She’s besties with Beyonce and Jay-Z. She even sang the chorus to one of Jay-Z’s songs at a concert last year… casual, right? Her friendship with the music industry’s power couple is enough to silence all the Gwyneth-haters!
She’s the “Most Beautiful Woman in the World.” Seriously – that’s the honor she was given by People Magazine in 2013, and she beat out a slew of gorgeous A-list stars for the award!
