I always look longingly at new brushes on make-up counters and I always think ah if I had a brush like that my make-up would look so much better but instead I have a manky old almost hairless brush or one that points in the wrong direction or one that feels very itchy across my skin. I know it’s a bad workman that blames their tools and you think why do I not invest in a set of beautiful brushes? So many reasons. I always think I have to have this colour, I’m so obsessed with it and then I can’t afford the better applicator. I think I’ll manage with my bad manky brush because I like the colour of this lip/cheek/eye amazingness and it’ll still be good even if it’s not perfect. Then I think I’m just going to lose a good brush anyway. I’ll be stressed all the time making sure I haven’t lost the brush.
Eco Tools Starter Set
Then came along a set of brushes called EcoTools. In fact different sets. You can get a day to night set or a starter set, promising that with these brushes, make up will look natural and perfect. These brushes are so soft, so natural and they come in their own mini make up bag. Their own little brush house, so I’m less likely to lose them. The blush brush is so soft and fluffy it feels like a kitten and these brushes are 100% cruelty free, with recycled aluminum, tree free paper and renewable bamboo. I love the idea of brushes without cruelty. I think that’s another reason I’ve never been keen on stocking up on brushes. Where does that hair actually come from? Anyway in my six piece starter set I’ve got a concealer brush. Who knew that you even brushed concealer? Yes my make-up routine may now take me more than 10 minutes but I’m going to look so flawless. The eye brushes are a super soft angled brush for applying close to the eyeline instead of or on top of eyeliner. There’s an eye shading brush— yes I can now actually shade instead of just wiping it on— and a lash and brow groomer. I’ve never used one of those before so now I can tame and fluff eyebrow hairs without cruelty or fuss.
As an animal lover and supporter of a kind earth not a cruel one, I love the idea that these brushes raise awareness yet are wonderful in their own right. And what is not to love. The starter set is £12.99 and the night to day is £16.99. I have paid more for one brush which I’ve lost barely after it came out of Selfridges because it fell to the bottom of a make-up bag. Now I will carry them around separately in their own little tool pouch. Grab yours from ecotools.com.
