A while back we expressed our excitement at the prospect of Gwen Stefani collaborating with Urban Decay to create her very own eyeshadow palette. It was very clear that the singer was going to have as much input into the choice of colours and shades as possible – to come up with a unique selection with Gwen’s very-own edgy, personalised style added in there.
So just imagine our excitement when one of these beauties came through to our Beauty and the Dirt office and we got to have a play. Here is the Gwen Palette in full force – and naturally I had to get some on, so here are also a couple of looks using these gorgeous colours too..

Urban Decay are so great for their pigmented eyeshadows – and they never fail to impress us and we know the Naked palettes are such a staple for makeup bags.. Although this palette signifys Gwen’s alternative look these colours are actually a great selection of every day warm browny shades and will make my daily eyeshadow drawer for sure.. Gwen does like her brown-neutral classic eye makeup look with her bright red lippy so we can see where she was going with this. There are a few bright ones in there too – with a blue, bright gold and pink to liven up your look.
How to Eye makeup looks..

Here is a quick look using a ‘spotlight’ technique using the three brightest colours…all together. I have put the bright gold ‘1987’ in the centre of my eyes – and it is so pigmented and stands out like a dream. I blended in with the deep blue and a hint of pink ‘Harajuku’ to fade out with.

For this look I wanted it to be super easy and used just one of the matte brown shades called ‘Zone’ pretty much all over my eye with a pop of the bright highlight pinky shade ‘Pop’ using my fingertips to layer it on so it really does ‘Pop’ out! I put my palette to good use – and used a deep matte brown shade in ‘Punk’ as a liquid liner – mixing a tiny bit of water into the shadow and it works! It is so pigmented that it is just as good as a liner.
So this is a palette of endless possibilities… And we love it.
