St. Patrick’s Day is coming up soon, and while the holiday is officially on Saturday, you can celebrate all weekend long in London. Here are some ways to make sure you’re feeling in the spirit.
Start celebrating tonight at the Porterhouse in Covent Garden with an Irish Ale tasting. They’ll be serving up tastes of Porterhouse Pilsner, Porterhouse Dublin Pale Ale, Porterhouse Red Ale, Porterhouse Plain Porter and Porterhouse Oyster Stout each Wednesday in March at 6:30 pm.
Borough Market will be taken over by Northern Ireland’s food and drinks from now until St. Paddy’s. They’ll have Cavanagh eggs, milled porridge oats, Irish black butter, and rapeseed oil, as well as demonstration kitchens to show you how to make your very own Irish feast at home.
Head over to Conrad London St. James and go to the Blue Boar Bar where they will be serving up Irish inspired cocktails with Disaronno, egg white, lemon and sugar, topped up with half a pint of Guinness! The festive drink will be available for the week starting on Saturday.
Camden Market will be hosting an Irish Music Trail focused on only the female Irish musicians. It will be going on all around the market, so you’ll be sure to find something you like as you explore the different types of music through the market stalls, shops, and restaurants.
Pop Brixton will be hosting their annual Paddy’s Party on Saturday night. Starting at 5 pm, you’ll be able to listen to London’s Fiddle Paradiddle, practice your Irish dancing skills, get your face painted, and of course drink some Guinness. Deck yourself out in green and Irish dance the night away.
You can also visit City Hall to see two Irish art exhibitions. Pauline Bewick, one of Ireland’s most famous artists, will have her collection on display until 21 March. #IamIrish is a photography exhibit that challenges the assumed looks of the Irish people. It looks at the experiences of 24 mixed race Irish people and tells their stories. It will be on display until 13 April.
Celebrations will be happening across the city all weekend, so there is a way for everyone to participate in the fun!
