Swimwear season seems to have sneaked up when we just weren’t paying attention. In true Brit style we blame the weather. Up until only recently we hadn’t given a second thought to proper lying-on-the-beach type behaviour, but now summer is here and new bikini buying is top of the agenda.
If you’re a curvy girl (and don’t forget curves are a body-shape not a size) then you’ll be well aware that a good fitting bikini or swimsuit is as important as a good fitting bra. Sadly, finding said good fitting swimwear that flatters curves and gives a bit of extra support, whilst being just that little bit gorgeous at the same time, is rather like searching for the proverbial needle in a haystack.
If you’ve spent too much time already wading through racks of miniscule bits of fabric that pass for something that’s meant to make you look great but you know will make you feel like you’re wearing two bits of an elastic band then read on. There are some simply stunning swimwear pieces from graphic prints to simple colour blocking and of course black available now. They are also guaranteed to look good all the way from the local lido to the beaches of Brazil.
This Cha Cha black crochet bikini (£34) from Freya is trimmed with silver beads and comes in a variety of styles, so you can pick the shape that suits you best. Cup sizes go up to a GG too.
This red print, deep plunge bikini from Freya (£38) couldn’t be called anything other than South Pacific and gives you uplift as well as plunge. Sizes go up to a JJ cup.
This Veronica Swimsuit from Panache comes in either this gorgeous paisley or a deep aqua. It has a bit of in-built tummy control and goes from a D-K cup.
The Calamity Scarlett Banded Halter bikini from Freya (£34) has no nasty straps that dig in and is uber-flattering. It also scores girly points with it’s cute pom-pom trim. Cups go up to an H in most sizes.
