The new Netflix psychological thriller, The Alienist is set in the underbelly of New York City’s “Gilded Age.” It follows the story of Laszlo Kreizler (Daniel Brüh), a brilliant and obsessive “Alienist” or psychologist, in the controversial new field of treating mental health. But despite this, it’s his valuable knowledge that is used to hunt down a never-before-seen ritualistic killer murdering young boys.
The story is based on the award-winning, fan-favourite novel by Caleb Carr. The cast of the gripping murder mystery also includes Luke Evans, who plays John Moore, a newspaper illustrator, and Dakota Fanning, playing Sara Howard, an ambitious secretary determined to become the city’s first female police detective.
