BEST MOISTURISERS FOR OILY/SPOT PRONE SKIN

April 26, 2016

By Hannah Powling

If you tend to have oily or spot-prone skin the last thing you might want to do is slather on moisturiser. We get it. But although it may seem counterproductive and you may think your skin has enough moisture already – oil and water are two different things and skipping your moisturiser isn’t an option! Often, your oily complexion could actually be down to dehydrated, thirsty skin if it is deprived from moisture.

So what’s the best way to get hydrated skin without overwhelming your pores? You need a light, gel based and oil-free moisturiser that balances the skin’s natural levels, hydrates and absorbs instantly leaving a shine-free texture… and we have just the ones for you.

We’ve rounded up all of our favourite moisturisers for oily or spot-prone skin to keep you looking your absolute best:

MAC Cosmetics

e
MAC Mineralize Charged Water Face and Body Lotion, £24.50

MAC’s Mineralize Charged Water Lotion is basically like you’ve just splashed your face with water. It disappears into the skin which is the perfect moisturiser to go beneath makeup. I use this just on my face (as it is for both face and body) and you only need a small amount so this one has lasted me such a long time. Also contains diamond-powder with ionized Super-duo Charged Water to help hydrate your skin all day. Pretty fancy we say!

The Hero Project

Hyasoft
The Hero Project Hyasoft, £19

Did you know hyaluronic acid has the ability to hold 1000 times its own weight in moisture? The Hero Project’s Hyasoft Moisture Boost contains multiple, yes multiple types of hyaluronic acid to give your skin the biggest moisture boost ever. This gel-like clear formula works to bring back brightness, get rid of dullness and plump the skin. Coupled with Vitamin B5, your skin is left lovely and soft and restored.

DERMALOGICA

Dermalogica Clear Start Hydrating Lotion, £16.15

Dermalogica Clear Start Hydrating Lotion is a good option if you particularly suffer with spot-prone skin – as it helps balance the oil production to reduce further breakouts. Super lightweight, sinks in fast and soothes whilst hydrating. Contains botanicals including Orange and Ginger to soothe and protect skin – plus making it smell lovely, which I love.

MURAD

Murad
Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield, £55

Murad is a popular one in the office. This multi benefit formula works to treat signs of anti-ageing whilst blurring imperfections to give a flawless look to the skin. Its lightweight texture makes it perfect for oily or mature skin without clogging up your pores but giving a smooth hydration.

BOBBI BROWN

Bobbi Brown Hydrating Gel Cream, £39

Bobbi Brown Hydrating Gel Cream is refreshing, lightweight and sinks in instantly to give a burst of moisture. Leaves my skin feeling soft and supple. A lovely night time cream to wake up with perfect and refreshed skin.

VICHY

a
Vichy Aqualia Thermal Light, £15

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Light just melts into the skin, replenishing you with water. Almost feels like youve spritzed your face with moisture, but with continuing effects. The non-greasy, light texture leaves you feeling pretty refreshed.

ZELENS

a
Z Matrix Energy and Moisture Infusion, £85

Zelen’s Z Matrix cream-gel is formulated to infuse skin with instant moisture and energy. Will instantly wake up any dull or tired skin leaving you silky smooth and radiant. Sinks in without any residue which is lovely.
