If you need an excuse to book a trip to New York City during your summer holiday, I have one word for you: Smorgasburg. New York City is known for being home to incredible food, and this market doesn’t disappoint. Smorgasburg is a huge food flea market with two locations in the city. Both locations have 100 vendors of the best and newest foods of the year for you to choose from. Just in time for you to make big plans for the summer, Smorgasburg is open rain or shine on Saturdays and Sundays April through October.

Smorgasburg Williamsburg in Brooklyn is open Saturdays from 11am-6pm. At this location, you can enjoy a view of the city skyline while snacking. However, if you would prefer a change of scenery from the usual city atmosphere then pay a visit to Smorgasburg Prospect Park. Located in Prospect Park from 11am-6pm on Sundays you can grab a bite to eat while sitting on the grass or at picnic tables.

It can be overwhelming to decide what to try while at Smorgasburg so here are some suggestions. Each year there are new wild food concoctions created by vendors and you should try them. Last year brought us the raindrop cake and the ramen burger but this year’s newest inventions include Spaghetti Donuts which you can find at the Pop Pasta stand and Churro Ice Cream Sandwiches from Dulcinea Churros.

For personal suggestions, my favorites include the waffles and ice cream at Wowfulls, parmesan truffle fries from Home Frite, homemade cookie ice cream sandwiches from The Good Batch and the best corn on the cob you will ever eat from Bisska NYC.

Come hungry because there are endless possibilities for you to snack on. Ice cream, drinks, burgers, sandwiches, popcorn you name it, Smorgasburg has it. This food market is an incredible experience that should be high up on your list if you’re visiting New York during the summer. Don’t forget to remind your friends who didn’t come with you about how amazing your weekend was by eating, drinking and Instagramming your food.
