Givenchy Noir Couture Mascara in Rose Pulsion (£23.50) is a new must-have from the leather-bound brand. The tri-spherical brush means every lash is coated with slick, clump-free ease. The Rose Pulsion colour enhances any skin tone and eye colour without making eye lashes appear tinted. L’Oreal Paris’ new Miss Manga Mascara (£8.99) boasts Barbara Palvin as their campaign girl in all her wide-eyed prettiness. The buzz-word for this mascara is volume. And lots of bit. Build and build and build. Don’t shy away from clumps, the aim of the game here is to achieve those thick, heavy lashes that Twiggy caused a sensation with in the 60s. If you want high impact, this is the mascara to rush to the counter with. MAC can always be counted on to come up trumps in the mascara stakes. Their latest addition MAC Haute & Naughty Lash (£18.00) is aimed at giving you the best of both worlds. The wand can be twisted and changed to first give you neat, natural lashes, or lashes loaded with volume. If you’re an avid day-to-night office makeover girl, make sure to pick up this little newbie.
Rimmel’s Scandaleyes Rockin’ Curves Mascara (£4.99) gives bold, curled lashes without a heavy build up. Think Angelina Jolie and Eva Mendes-esque lashes. They’re always noticeable for their volume, length and curl, but there’s never a clump in sight.
Neal’s Yard New Lengthening Mascara (£16.00) is made for 100% natural ingredients, 78% of which are organic. It’s enriched with a lash-thickening tetrapeptide, omega rich organic Argan oil and anti-oxidant rich white tea to nourish your lashes in as many ways as possible. And of course the more your lashes are nurtured and protected, the more they grow! This one’s the cold-press juice of mascaras. So terribly, smugly, good for you. Max Factor Lash Extension Effect Mascara (£10.99) is almost like the sequel to a good chick-lit classic. If you loved the ones before (the famed likes of False Lash Effect and 2000 Calorie) then you’re going to love this one. It does what it says on the uber-sleek tin, it extends, lengthens, and then some. Lancome Hypnose Star Mascara (£22.50) is as wondrous as the mystically starry-skied bottle looks. The tapered brush makes lashes curl, appear fuller and more defined. It’s the one to opt for for curled, full and pretty lashes. It’ll have you all starry-eyed!
Maybelline Big Eyes Mascara (£6.99) can be relied upon to leave no lash uncoated. The larger brush pushes upper lashes up to really widen eyes and increase lash volume and length, whilst the smaller brush is made to ensure the lower lashes are defined and lengthened. It’s the mascara that caters for every lash. Clinique is the go-to brand for natural looking glossy lashes. Whilst at school, under the strict ban of makeup, their Long And Pretty Lashes mascara had such a natural effect that I was able to don it every day undetected, and reel in the compliments for my unbelievably full lashes. I still remember the moment I found out it had been discontinued. Devastated is an understatement. Luckily they have been producing equally brilliant versions ever since and their latest Clinique High Impact Curling Mascara (£17.00) might just be the one I’ve been waiting for. Curled, lengthened and subtly volumised – it’s set to be a workday staple. If the name isn’t enough to tempt you then just take the YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils Babydoll Mascara (£24.50) for a trial run. The double layered bristles of the brush manage to capture both long and short lashes in the same swipe to open up lashes and fan them out to full effect, for a pretty and seductive look. Bat, and bat them some more, you’re sure to get your way with this one.
