To mark the 40th anniversary of the UK release of director Nicolas Roeg’s iconic science fiction odyssey, The Man Who Fell to Earth, STUDIOCANAL has just announced that a new restoration of the cult classic will be returning to cinemas this September.
The Man Who Fell To Earth was released in 1976 and featured David Bowie in his era defining and first major cinematic role, as an alien called Thomas Jerome Newtown who came to Earth to take water back to his drought-ridden planet.
The restoration of the film has been in the works since late 2015, but is now especially timely and poignant given the tragic news of David Bowie’s death earlier this year.
The Man Who Fell To Earth will be released in cinemas nationwide on 9th September and then afterwards as a Collector’s Edition Blu-Ray, DVD or Download on 10thOctober, complete with brand new bonus material and special packaging.
