This year, the Met Ball will be taking place on Bank Holiday Monday 1st May. It is held at the iconic Metropolitan Museum in New York where the gala will once again welcome some of the biggest celebs from around the world.
In 2017 we’ll see everyone interpret the theme: Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons. Rei is a Japanese designer based both in Japan and Paris. She is the founder of Comme des Garçons a Japanese fashion label which is French for “Like Some Boys”. Andrew Bolton, curator of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, said: “Rei Kawakubo is one of the most important and influential designers of the past 40 years. By inviting us to rethink fashion as a site of constant creation, recreation, and hybridity, she has defined the aesthetics of our time.” No wonder she’s been chosen as this years honorary guest.
As always Vogue editor Anna Wintour chairing the event this year with the help of Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams. We’ll be interested to see some of the more out-there outfits *flashback to Rihanna’s yellow dress from 2015*.
