Last night, I saw Cats The Musical at The London Palladium. This wasn’t the first musical that I’ve ever seen but it has been the first in a very long time. I mean its probably been five or more years since the last time I’ve had to sit in a proper theatre. Call me crazy, but I’m not that into musicals. However, Nicole Scherzinger was starring in the show so I was ready to be entertained.
If you wanted me to sum up the entire show in one word, it would have to be: phenomenal. And no, I’m not exaggerating – I can easily get bored min-musical, but the dancing blew me away. There weren’t just turns and twirls, but actual kicks and jumps that took serious training and skill. There were solos that took my breath away; I even got binoculars after the intermission so that I could get a better view of the cast.
As for Nicole, she played the role of Grizabella, the character made famous by Elaine Paige. Fans of Nicole might be disappointed that she wasn’t actually on stage for very long, but her vocals made up for that. In fact her days with The Pussycat Dolls did her no justice, theatre from now on Nicole?
