The red carpet has been busy at the Toronto Film Festival this year again, here’s some more of our highlights, as I write with my jet lag it makes me wish I was back there!
In Greetings From Tim Buckley Penn Badgely plays Jeff Buckley, in this chronicle of the days leading up to Tim Buckley’s performance at his father’s tribute concert in 1991. Through a romance with a young woman working at the concert, he learns to embrace all of his feelings toward the father who abandoned him – longing, anger, forgiveness, and love. We hear he is really good in it and it’s one to look out for when it is released. Seen here with his co-star Imogene Poots at TIFF for the premiere.
The uber cool Smith family were out in full force at the very moving film that Jada helped to finance, Free Angela and All Political Prisoners is a documentary about the manhunt, trial, and acquittal of Angela Davis. We couldn’t resist this photo of Jaden and Willow Smith working the red carpet better than anyone.
Two favourites of ours, Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts, who looks stunning in lavender Elie Saab, were in town for The Impossible. Many have said this is one of the most emotionally realistic disaster movies in recent memory, it is an epic re-creation of the catastrophic 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. It is based on a true story, incredible in itself and dramatized with the utmost emotional realism by Spanish director Juan Antonio Bayona. It received a very long standing ovation at its premiere.
