Follow Tom Hanks’ character Alan as he travels around the world, from America to Saudi Arabia, to pitch a new IT contract to a rich King. Alan is on the verge of bankruptcy, as well as on the search for renewed inspiration for life when he embarks on his journey to Saudi Arabia. Director Tom Tykwer (who previously worked with Hanks in Cloud Atlas) embarks on this comedy/drama by basing it on Dave Eggers best selling novel also titled A Hologram for the King.

The film is set in 2010, before the Arab Spring, and for Alan, post Great Recession. Alan has lost his house and his wife and the adventure he embarks on is just what he needs to put some spark back into his life.
